Two Ways to Support

Over 40% of patients admitted to Brisbane oncology units do not have visitors or active support networks with them during their lengthy treatment cycles. Through Moxie’s primary Ward Donation Program, your sponsored fund enables us to craft beautifully curated wellness boxes in bulk and hand-deliver them directly to Brisbane wards, to be gifted to patients who need reassurance, love, and a tactile touchstone.

Our origin story

“We build warmth and comfort when everything feels cold and sterile.”

Jennifer Parsons is a mother of three, a wife, an ocean lover, a BRCA1 gene mutation carrier, and a Triple Negative Breast Cancer survivor.

Jen founded Moxie Gift Box after reflecting on her own cancer journey in 2024. When she started chemotherapy, friends and family constantly asked how they could help, but she honestly had no idea what she needed. She didn’t know that treatment would leave a metallic taste in her mouth, that sudden smells would trigger intense nausea, or that a simple straw tumbler would become her most prized possession for staying hydrated after a double mastectomy.

Determined to help others navigate the unknown, Jen curated these gift boxes to be both practical and comforting. Every item - from the specific mints and SPF lip balms to the taste-masking water drops and hospital-ready toiletry bags - is something that genuinely helped her through the toughest days.

Jen’s goal is to ensure that every recipient feels deeply cared for, armed with quality products that offer real relief. Her message to anyone currently in the fight is simple: cancer is incredibly tough, but you are stronger than you know. Keep going, keep fighting, and keep showing your moxie.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which clinics do the donation boxes go to?

At the moment, we deliver to the Mater Cancer Care Centre (South Brisbane), the Icon Cancer Centre (North Lakes), The Patient Approach (Cleveland) and Redland Hospital Cancer Care Centre. If we have enough donation boxes, we will expand to other South-East Queensland clinics.

When do boxes get delivered to clinics?

Currently, donation boxes are delivered to different clinics once a week but this may change as demand requires.

What’s included in the boxes?

Depending on which box you choose, will depend on what is included. Donation boxes include a few small snacks, practical items such as hand cream and lip balm, and comfort items such as a warming eye-mask. The small but mighty gift box has mostly practical items with a few for comfort, the medium box is the perfect balance of practical and comfort, whilst the large box has everything included. Each box can be tailored to your recipient – leave a note in the notes section with any favourite colours, tea/coffee preferences and anything else you think we should know!

What do you do if someone has an allergy?

Moxie Gift Box will cross-check items for allergens they are alerted to, and where possible, provide a suitable/similar alternate. Moxie Gift Box recommends that those with sensitive skin/allergies patch test first to ensure there is no reaction. Discontinue if irritation occurs. All products are for external use only and do not replace products advised for use by your medical team.

Is shipping included in price?

For our donation boxes, it is $25 including the delivery to a clinic. All other gift boxes do not include shipping in the price. Shipping will be calculated at the check-out based on the box you choose and the delivery location. Gift boxes aim to be shipped within 5 business days.
